Most of the colorful images for this site came from Richard Lykes.

Richard Lykes, the photographer who provided the photographs for this website, is a retired international economist/writer who has made his home on a farm near Flint Hill in Rappahannock County since 1992.  He has been an avid photographer since high school days but has become a full-time, free lance photo-journalist in the last three years.  He hails from Texas, attended George Washington University, Mexico City College, and the University of Buenos Aires (Argentina).  His photographs grace the pages of the Rappahannock News weekly.  He has a collection of photographs of beautiful Rappahannock County, its people and cultural, social and political events that reach into the thousands.  His subject matters ranges from the Blue Ridge Mountains that he admires from his study, to portraits of people who are newsworthy in the county.  Among his favorite photographs are landscapes, sunsets and sunrises, pictures of native flora and fauna, and portraits of notables (Queen Noor of Jordan and Sen. Eugene McCarthy, among others) and children (young cancer survivors at Camp Fantastic).  All of his photographs in the last several years have been taken with an 8-mega pixel Sony digital camera
